You Deserve Your Holidays and Time With Your Family

Do you remember the last time you took work to a family gathering? We’ve all been there!

As business owners, it can be so hard to put down the laptop and walk away from the phone when your business seems to constantly be pulling you back in. Of course, you want to be with your family and spend time with them, but so often we feel like we can’t walk away from our business because it is our livelihood and takes up so much of our time and attention.

I want you to take a moment and think about WHY you started your business in the first place.

Was it because you wanted the ability to provide for your family in a way a corporate career wouldn’t? Maybe it’s because you wanted the flexibility of creating your own schedule. Or maybe it’s because you have a fire inside you pushing you to do this thing. Or maybe you simply found yourself here out of necessity and somewhere along the way fell in love with it.

Now that you’ve identified your reasoning, I want you to think about the decisions you are making and how they are supporting your why.

If you started your business so you could have the freedom to be with your family when you wanted to, then WHY are you taking work with you to your holidays?

When the actions we take are not supporting and feeding back into our why and our goals, we can start to feel the dreaded burn out. It becomes harder to stay motivated and focused, because you are not working in congruence with the goals and values you hold so dear.

So friend, please, take some time and think, will putting your laptop away and phone down for one day with your family really be so detrimental to your business?

No, I don’t think it will.

You DESERVE your family time! You DESERVE to spend the holidays drinking in time with your loved ones and creating those precious memories. I promise, your business will be there when you get back.

If you are thinking there is no way that you can walk away from work for a day, then I think it’s time we talk about bringing in someone to help! A part time VA can take a lot of stress off your shoulders and help with tasks that are sucking away your time and joy.

“Barrier Consulting has changed my business and my life. Evonne and her team keep my business goal-focused; moving projects faster toward success (and helping us look good doing it)! Everything they have helped with not only frees up my time and reduces stress but increases revenue too! My business would grow at snail speed without Barrier Consulting.”
