Plan Ahead and Get Ahead This Year

As we continue into the new year, we want to encourage you to know your goals.

In the words of our very good friend Crystal Oakes from Oakes Creative House, when you plan ahead, you get ahead. When you identify your goals for the year, you’ll begin to identify the action steps you need to take in order to reach them.

In other words, you’re setting yourself up for success.

In other words, you’re setting yourself up for success.

As a business owner, it’s crucial to have a strategy you can reference back to frequently, so that you never lose sight of your dreams and how to achieve them. Of course, you can absolutely have a plan for short-term and long-term goals, but it will definitely prove to be more beneficial for those long-term goals. (Because hey, sometimes life gets complex and crazy and we need a reminder here and there!)

So where do you start exactly?

Well first, identify your goals. The more detailed and realistic you are with them, the better! For example, the time frame of when you want to have these goals completed and how much time and resources you have every week/month to put towards the actions of getting there.

Then, you guessed it – identify the action steps that will get you closer to your goals. For example, if you have a short-term goal of hitting 10,000 steps a day, what is a step you can take that will make sure you hit that goal every day? Perhaps it’s as simple as making time for a walk around the block.

Let’s think a little bigger. Maybe you have a goal of bringing in 5 more clients a month. What are some action steps you can take to make this possible? It could be making time for researching local networking events in your area and putting them on your calendar as a must-go. Or it could be investing a little bit more into your social media marketing to connect with more potential clients.

Whatever the case may be, if you take the time to plan ahead, your goals will be much more reachable because you will have something to come back to inspire you and remind you that you got this!
